TL;DR
Indian-language voice AI is hard because callers switch languages mid-sentence and speak with many accents. Swarvo voice agents speak Hinglish, Hindi and English today. Test any vendor on real calls in your languages with a checklist before committing.
India has dozens of languages and countless accents, and callers rarely stay in one language. A voice AI agent for Indian languages must handle that reality, not just translate English.
Why Indian languages are harder
- Code-switching. A caller may say a Hindi sentence with English nouns and numbers.
- Accents and dialects. The same language sounds different across regions.
- Names and places. Indian names and locality names trip up generic speech models.
- Numbers and amounts. Lakhs, crores and phone numbers are read differently from Western conventions.
- Phone-line noise. Mobile calls add background noise and compression.
What Swarvo supports today
Swarvo voice agents speak Hinglish, Hindi and English, and follow a caller who switches between them. We confirm any additional language needs during your demo rather than promising coverage in advance. Read more on AI call automation.
A checklist to test any vendor
Place at least ten real calls and score each one:
- Does it understand a Hinglish sentence with an English product name?
- Does it read back a phone number and a budget in lakhs correctly?
- Does it handle an interruption mid-sentence?
- Does it cope with a noisy background and a regional accent?
- Does the voice sound natural in the language, not like translated English?
- Does it fall back gracefully when it does not understand?
Use callers from different regions to avoid a flattering test. Our guide to Hindi voice bots covers the basics.
Voice quality versus understanding
Two separate things matter: how well the agent understands the caller (speech recognition) and how natural it sounds when it replies (voice). A great voice with weak understanding still fails. Test both.
